Review: shoppingholics.com Circle lenses

Thursday, June 30, 2011

A lot of you ask me what circle lenses I'm wearing in videos and where to get them. Today I am sharing my secret with you guys! Just kidding, its not really a secret because I shop everywhere, but I do have to mention that you should always buy from a reputable site and seller when it comes to circle lenses because they are not regulated here in the US.

To purchase these circle lenses go to shoppingholics.com

I want to clear up a few misunderstanding about circle lenses.

Q: Are circle lenses bad?
A: No, they are not necessarily good or bad. Essentially, any foreign object you put in your eye can potentially be hazardous, and this includes ANY contacts you get. It is more about how you take care of the contacts and how long you wear them for.

Q: Will circle lenses make me blind?
A: Anything can make you blind. If you do not clean and maintain them properly it can lead to eye infections which could lead to impaired vision. Will it make you blind? That depends on how you take care of your eyes, and has nothing to do with circle lenses.

Q: How long can I wear circle lenses for?
A: Ideally, you should not wear them for more than 4-6 hours depending on the brand and the lens's permeability.

Q: How long should I keep a pair of circle lenses for?
A: Most circle lenses are annually replaced unless stated otherwise. Depending on how you clean them they may only last up to 6 months.

Q: How do I know which ones to choose?
A: This can be tricky, it is really trial and error. Listen to your eyes. "Suitable" lenses should feel like you have nothing on at all. If you feel itchy, scratchy or stinging it probably means there is something wrong.

ALRIGHT!! NOW we can start!

I picked 2 pairs of lenses for this review. Before I dive into the lenses let me rave about the packaging.

The lenses came in an envelope from Malaysia. Inside was this cute bag with lenses and a little card!

I can't believe how thoughtful this company is. Just from the way they package everything to the details of this card you can already tell that they really put their time and effort into their business. =]

Wondering why the red and black box and contact cases? Everything is COLOR COORDINATED! Yes! Sometimes I feel like I would be best friends with the owner of this website because this is exactly how I would package things too! Not to mention that the boxes are adorable!

I picked 2 pairs of lenses. The first pair is the new GEO Bambi lenses in Saseme Grey. These retail $23.90 on the website and are 25mm in diameter. Here it is!

These are GEO's newest lenses and come in 4 colors total: Green apple, Chocolate, Sesame Grey, and Almond, but Almond only comes in plano. Luckily, the other 3 are available in prescription! As you can see the enlargement is GINORMOUS! The result, huge dolly eyes, with makeup of course.

I wear these Bambis in this video

As many of you know, GEO lenses have the authenticity stickers on them to ensure that they are real and authentic from GEO. If you scratch the grey part there is a code that you can enter in on the website to check if you have the real deal. Cool huh?

I have other GEO lenses and they are really comfortable so that's why I would highly recommend GEO lenses in general. Although 15mm lenses are actually a new thing to me and I'm scared to try them!

Pink lenses were very popular and this is actually one of the most popular pink lenses that come in prescription. These are the EOS Candy Pink. The candy series have just a very simple and plain ring in color and not much design, which make it a bit special because that means more emphasis on your eyes and less on the design! These are 14.5mm so they are not as intimidating as the Bambis and they retail for $21.90 on shoppingholics. I would actually recommend this series for starters because it is simple and has pretty decent enlargement ring. It also comes in other colors that are more natural looking as well.

Whew, so that was a lot of info in one post. It seems like you guys didn't like the last post about jewelmint a lot? No one commented!! So sad!!!  I will film a review on this website and these lenses soon! You guys get a preview!! Yay!

June JewelMint Purchase- Astoria Necklace

Thursday, June 16, 2011

I'm sure a lot of you have heard by now. The new exclusive jewelry club called JewelMint.

It's simple, take the free online style quiz, and according to your style the website will put together a showroom just for you. The showroom is suppose to encompass your style and jewelry taste.

To be honest, the jewelry in my showroom was not completely accurate the first time around, and this is understandable. That's why JewelMint lets you customize your showroom if you should see any pieces you dislike and when you take these pieces out of the showroom, you will have the option to choose why you didn't like those particular pieces. This way the system learns what pieces you like and what styles of jewelry you tend to go for. I thought that was pretty wicked! It's like having a personal jewelry stylist online! Plus, all of the pieces do not retail anywhere. So while you may have the same jewelry as someone else online you probably won't find these pieces in the department store worldwide.

So, finally I gave JewelMint a try and the first piece I ordered was the Astoria Necklace

I know this is usually not my style because I like dainty little things but when I saw this I couldn't hold my jaw shut! It is absolutely stunning. I knew it would be great with jeans and I just had to have it!

Depending on the piece of jewelry the boxes are different, but mine came in this mint green box with a elastic bow. Super cute right?

Along with the cute bow the packaging is very smart as well. It features a magnetic closure for that chic expensive feel.

To top everything off with a personal touch Kate and Cher (founders of JewelMint) always includes a little something about where they got the inspiration for the piece. I love it! (except I feel like a 2nd grader glued this note on the inside of the box. It was totally crooked . I found it amusing)

Now, some camwhoring

I took these pictures with the crappy front camera of my Iphone 4 so of course they look crappy as well.

Don't forget to Facebook me!!

I love you guys!

May Favorites

Tuesday, June 7, 2011

Sorry for the late post!! Here is the product list with everything I mentioned in my latest May Likes & Dislikes video. Since this month most of the products I mentioned were "likes" I just titled this post "favorites" instead.

The earrings I wore were from my jewelry line Pinkbox Jewerly

These earrings are hand woven on a teardrop loop with Swarovski Crystals. You can purchase them here: www.pinkboxjewelry.ecrater.com

Next, my ultimate favorite of the month are these Phosphor Appear Watches

I wanted to thank Ariel the author of this AMAZING watch blog for hosting this giveaway.

The Description for these watches as below:

Phosphor reveals the new Appear watch line, skillfully blending design and technology to craft the ultimate fashion timepiece.

Driven by Micro-Magnetic Mechanical Digital (M3D) technology, the Phosphor Appear watch utilizes miniature-sized rotors adorned with Swarovski™ crystals that revolve to reveal numerical or chronological information. With each minute, an electrical pulse generates an electromagnetic field that changes the position of the crystals on the face of the watch, to elegantly display the passing time, while producing a distinctive sound unique to the Phosphor Appear digital watch line.

The basic "time" mode features a 12-hour display, with the hours positioned above the minutes on the face. The watch face also offers a "seconds" mode and "off" mode, showing an entire face of crystals with no time display.

Features:
  • Case diameter: 43.8mm
  • Overall case thickness: 14.5mm
  • Water resistance: 5 ATM - 50m
  • Display: 12 hour only
  • Functions: Time, Seconds, and Off

The description of the watch can also be found on the Phosphor website.

One of my subscriber Anna she is a Mary Kay representative and she sent me a few items for review.  Please visit her Mary Kay site here

This is my first time trying Mary Kay products, and a lot of you wanted me to review products from affordable online retailers such as Avon and Mary Kay so here it is!

My favorite products from her package include:

Products that did not work out for me

Now on to the Naruko products!! I know you guys are dying to try Naruko and YOU SHOULD!!! I finished these 2 serums and that is why I mentioned it in this video, because I can give a more conclusive review after I finish a product.

I finished this Magnolia Brightening Serum and it was amazing!
This serum instantly brightens and tightens the skin for more youthful and rested looking skin. The scent is a little strong but I love Magnolia so it was no bother for me at all. Texture is light and moisturizes well.

Naruko Lavender and Marjorum Brightening Serum
This serum was a little hard for me to finish because I didn't like it as much as the Magnolia one. The glass dropper can get messy and not as convenient as the pump on the Magnolia one. I wish they made all serums pump so it doesn't get messy! Although it says it has brightening properties, I did not notice any at all. Overall, it is a great basic serum with lavender scent.

My favorite serum from Naruko has to be the Rose & White fungus aqua cubic serum

It smells heavenly and is a super good serum for all skin types. I highly recommend this serum to anyone who is just starting Naruko and doesn't know what to get!

I also started using the Kiehls powerful line reducing concentrate

Kiehl's describes this as " The line eraser with 10.5% Vitamin C. As potent as Retinol without the sensitivity."

Indeed it is powerful because I feel like tingle and slightly burning feeling every time I use it. It is a velvet texture and absorbs quickly.

A lot you ask me what BB I use and my HG BB cream is L'EGERE White Multi Blemish Balm BB Cream

This BB cream is a medium coverage cream. It does tend to get a bit shinny throughout the day, but the finish is so natural I really don't mind. The only down side is no SPF protection, so wear a sunscreen under this!

Finally, my last favorite is this L'oreal Lash serum which you can purchase from your local drugstore. I was really skeptical about this serum because I have used many lash serums before. I have even used Latisse and it worked really well on me. Again, I would like to emphasize that this serum is really for conditioning your lashes and will work differently than prescription Latisse.

I hope you enjoyed this SUPER DETAILED post!!

Leave me a comment below if you have tried any of these products or if you have any thoughts or concerns about any of them!
