Saying Goodbye to Foie Gras in California

Saturday, June 30, 2012

Hi everyone! I hope your weekend is treating you well so far!

Today is the last day foie gras will be served in California. Sad news but true.  So in honor of goose liver all over California I wanted to share a few pictures with you.

And many more foie gras memories hidden away somewhere on my hard drive, but you get the idea. It is a sad sad day here in California. I  just wanted to say thank you foie gras, you have served all of us Californians well.  See you in Vegas! ;)

Simple Pleasures :: Colorful Gems and Sea Anemone

Monday, June 4, 2012

 Happy Monday everyone!

Mondays are always very busy for me, but I wanted to take this time to share some photos with you and hopefully brighten up your Monday.

I have to admit I have quite the sweet tooth, and macaroons are my guilty pleasure. I used to be a cupcake addict, but these little babies are definitely the new cupcake for me.

I was able to visit the famous Bottega Louie in downtown Los Angeles  not too long ago and I was thrilled to see all the intricate designs of the pastries available.

My favorite were the Grand Cru Macaroons. They are the pink and white ones on the lower right hand corner. Oddly enough the pink one was vanilla and the white one was chocolate. Mr. K and I shared the vanilla one and it was truly amazing. Fresh raspberry, pomegranate seeds and whipped cream sandwiched between the soft yet crunchy macaroon pieces. It was delicious.

Needless to say it was quite the difficult choice when it came to picking flavors of macaroons to take home with us.

We ended up with one of each flavor to savor on the way home.

The colors of these macaroons are just memorizing. I call them my little sea anemone. ;)

I hope you have enjoyed these colorful gems and have a great rest of the week!
